Emotions shape financial decisions more than spreadsheets do

Horvest trade was built around a straightforward observation: most investment mistakes come from poorly understood emotional responses, not from lack of data. We created a structured learning environment where that gap gets addressed head-on.

Our lectures are designed for people who already have some financial knowledge but struggle when real money and real stress enter the picture. That's a very specific problem, and we treat it with the specificity it deserves.

The people running the programme

A small group of educators and practitioners who've spent years at the intersection of behavioural research and practical investing. No large corporate hierarchy — just focused people doing specific work.

Ferdia Ó Briain

Lead Educator

Ferdia has spent over a decade studying how cognitive biases affect retail investors in volatile markets. He leads the core lecture series and designs the curriculum structure.

Sorcha Hanafin

Behavioural Research

Sorcha works on the research side, translating academic findings in behavioural finance into practical frameworks that students can apply to their own decision-making patterns.

Caoilfhinn Treacy

Student Support

Caoilfhinn manages learner communications, coordinates course access, and makes sure nobody falls through the cracks when they have questions between sessions.

How we think about financial education

  1. Specificity over breadth We don't cover every investing topic. Emotional decision-making under pressure is a deep subject on its own — that focus lets us go further than a general course would.
  2. Sequential delivery matters Each lecture builds on the last. Skipping ahead doesn't work here the same way it might in a skills course, because the psychological patterns stack on each other.
  3. Honest about outcomes Better understanding of your own emotional responses doesn't guarantee better returns. It reduces a specific class of avoidable errors. That's a meaningful but bounded claim.
  4. Accessible from anywhere in Ireland The platform runs fully online, which means a student in Donegal has the same access as one in Dublin. Scaling that reach without losing quality is something we work on continuously.

Questions about the programme?

If you're weighing up whether this kind of course fits where you are right now, a short conversation helps more than reading another page. Send your name and number and we'll call you back at a time that works.

We're also happy to talk through the format, the time commitment, or how the lectures are structured before you commit to anything.
